Divine Truth Press Announces Imminent Release of its Inaugural Title

''Age is Just a Number.'' Is It Really That Simple?
Refreshing Newcomer Explores the Offerings of the Online Dating Arena for Christians. (Rumor has it that age restrictions are not a deterrent ... anymore.)

(PressMethod) - WHITEHALL, PENNSYLVANIA - August 26, 2006 - A bright new voice in creative non-fiction, D.S. White is the author of "Age is Just a Number: Adventures in Online Dating - Volume I" (Divine Truth Press September 2006; Paperback; $9.95). Spurred on by the Lulu Blooker Prize Contest of 2006 and backed by her online following; Dee welcomed the advent of the blook (blook: book based on a blog) with open arms. This blook series takes the reader on a multi-volume, two-year virtual adventure in the name of love.

MEET DIVINE: female, thirty-seven, slaphappy, young at heart, self-employed; an online newbie, living in New York. She is fresh out of a long-term relationship and has completed the two-year mandatory wound-licking I-hate-men mourning period. Unfortunately for Divine, someone neglected to inform her that dating has been upgraded to new millennium level. But maybe she shouldn't worry ... hemlines aren't the only things that have gone up.

Thirty-somethings are premium dating material now ... at least for the twenty-year-olds ... Divine's experiences are the basis for the serial memoir I call
Age Is Just a Number, a lens through which to view the world of online dating.

Praise for Age is Just a Number:

"If there is one word to describe the musings of this delightful first-time author it would be "refreshing." D.S. White is refreshingly honest, refreshingly funny, and refreshingly human. I feel as if I've just discovered a long-lost friend or relative. Readers will relate to the absolutely real words and thoughts that decorate the pages of this "blook" (the first I've ever read, by the way), and will come away from their read with insight to their own hearts and lives."

-Kathi Macias, author of seventeen books, including the bestselling women's devotional A Moment A Day, the popular Matthews & Matthews detective series from Broadman & Holman (Obsession, The Price, and The Ransom), and her latest novel, Emma Jean Reborn

Cast Down, But Not Destroyed

Articles, Essays and Short Stories of a Bipolar Abuse Survivor.

In conjunction with the Community Web site Dee411. The author issues an encouraging message to survivors and those in abusive situations.

It not a new story it has been told time and time again and needs to continually be told.

In many cases, silence is considered acceptance therefore macabre acts are continually perpetuated throughout America. This is one instance where there are no boundaries of race, gender or social status or financial bracket--abuse knows no boundaries.

Therefore we have to keep the pressure on and PUSH:

  • Pray
  • Until
  • Something
  • Happens

Also included is a resource section with hotlines and websites of agencies and organizations that aid the abused.

Reflections: Celebrating the Trials, Tribulations, and Triumphs in Everyday Life

Inspirational essays from the heart and soul of the author.

"Celebrating the Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs in Everyday Life"

In today's climate of rush, rush, hurry, hurry, we seldom take a moment to enjoy the here and now. We seem always to be working an hour ahead, a day ahead, a week ahead and so forth.

With her move from the bustle of New York to the countryside of Pennsylvania, D.S. White was forced to slow down, smell the roses, listen to the crickets and appreciate the authentic smell of nature.

The results of her down time? The realization that life moves on whether we actively participate or not. Her resolution?

  • To learn from what was

  • To live in the here and now

  • To trust God for her tomorrows.
Collected here for the first time are the most beloved articles, essays and short stories chronicling her road to peace, her renewed joy in life and acceptance of herself.

Love Quest: Looking For Love in Cyberspace

A look at cyber dating from the viewpoint of a Thirty-something, African American, Christian Female.

This book introduces a world outside the parameters of day-to-day life that exists unbeknownst to most. It has its own language, rules and atmosphere. It offers a freedom that can be addictive, exhilarating or dangerous for the uninitiated.

This book is not an attempt to justify or endorse cyber dating, however it may be used as a reference. In the author's humorous style it:

  • Introduces Internet lingo

  • Points out common and not so common pitfalls

  • Reviews several sites

  • Provides a comprehensive list of dating sites

  • Offers bonus introductory chapters of Age is Just a Number: Adventures in Online Dating - Volume I; as well as

  • A resource section for victims of abuse, rape or incest and sufferers of bipolar disorder. (They too inhabit the cyberworld).

Age is Just a Number

"Age is just a number." Is it really that simple?

Divine's journey of self-discovery is an often unbelievable, and at times achingly sad recounting of her shellshock upon reentering the world of dating after a fourteen year absence. On the journey she discovers online dating Web sites, IM, and chat rooms. In her journal, she reveals her bewilderment as she tries to navigate the new "dating rules" that allow twenty year olds to feel emboldened enough to approach thirty-seven year olds with the line "age is just a number."

Over time, her dilemma becomes one of needs versus values, as Divine discovers how far she will push the line before it snaps… or she breaks.Journey with Divine as she encounters the good, the bad, the ugly, the calorically challenged, the mentally challenged, the financially deficient, the spiritually inconsistent, the freaky, the delusional, the lonely and more…
